Longtime Willits resident Linda MacDonald is the guest artist in the interior of the Corner Gallery. Like Maeve, she is a painter with an early start in the world of art and a long and impressive list of awards and credentials, but her process differs greatly and she works in watercolor as well as oil. Linda creates her art entirely in her studio, starting with photos of the interiors of the large redwood trees in Mendocino County, which she prints to use as inspiration for her paintings. She works in a wide range from very large to very small format.
Linda is best known for her environmental art born of her experience living in northern California. Much of her past work employed the medium of art quilting and highlighted environmental themes such as oil drilling and logging. Linda continues to focus on environmental themes, though she has shifted her medium to paint on canvas.
